About Ameravant Web Design

We are an innovative web design and development company based in Santa Barbara, CA.

Kip Holcomb

Consultant

I remember the first time our family connected to the web and started surfing our first few websites. Like everyone else felt, I was simply amazed at the potential that the Internet showed. I became obsessed with the idea of reaching an unlimited number of people on a worldwide scale, and quickly began learning how to make websites.

Career

After dabbling with small websites for friends and internet-gaming groups I played with, I eventually got into database-backed applications and pursued a career in web development directly after graduating high school. Moving from a five-thousand person town in rural New Jersey out to Santa Barbara, CA was unreal. My first two jobs (which I held for five and two years, respectively) put me under the wing of some very experienced developers, some of who later moved on to work for giants Microsoft and Google. I feel like my on-the-job learning was the best I could have hoped for. My background is in Classic ASP and MS-SQL server web application development. However, over the last couple years I have taken an intense interest in Ruby on Rails, which I use exclusively today.

Over several years, I had worked on some side projects for Michael, and was excited to accept his offer of working for Ameravant full-time. I worked exclusively for Ameravant from May 2007 to May 2009, and have since pursued a new career opportunity. I still work as a consultant on a part-time basis.

Personal life

I am an avid Apple fan, and will stereotypically try to convert any Windows user I can. When I'm not sitting at a desk or couch working on your website, I'll probably be playing Settlers of Catan, Rock Band or kickball with my friends.

In March 2009, I started a personal project called MoochFly, which is a simple concept: the site keeps track of things that you've let your friends borrow and notifies you via Twitter to get the items back.
